📖 Revelation 4 — Verse-by-Verse Study Notes
STUDY NOTES — verse by verse. [Brackets] mark English helper words. Hebrew quoted word-for-word from the Tanakh, never invented. “Lord” = kurios (title), never the Name. Greek in pinned comment; apparatus free below.
• Rev 4:1 — א, A, C; no variants. No papyrus covers chapter 4. Lit: “After these [things] I saw, and behold, [a] door having been opened in the heaven, and the first voice which I heard, as of [a] trumpet speaking with me, saying: Come up here, and I will show to you what [things] must come to be after these [things].” Heb, Ezek 1:1: נִפְתְּחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וָאֶרְאֶה מַרְאוֹת אֱלֹהִים — “the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of Elohim.”
• Rev 4:2 — א, A, C. Lit: “Immediately I came to be in spirit; and behold, [a] throne was set in the heaven, and on the throne [One] sitting,” Heb, 1 Kgs 22:19: רָאִיתִי אֶת־יְהוָה יֹשֵׁב עַל־כִּסְאוֹ — “I saw YudHeyVavHey sitting on his throne.”
